Free Wave vs Tuckers: Head to Head Comparison I posted recently about Tuckers tasting different and seemingly more like Free Wave so I jumped at the chance to do a head to head comparison. And it was fun, really makes you focus and take note of the nuances! (Note to self: do this more often) As you can see in the pic, they were identical on the pour - both a golden color, hazy with a thin, large bubble (soapish) head. Nose was also similar (heavy citrus, very nice!) though a bit more complex with tuckers (a little pine in there?). Taste
View on Reddit →Free Wave is good. Wish it was better. Been buying Free Wave Hazy IPA for a ~18 months. Starts great but has a rough finish. I’ll keep buying it since ita available at Costco and some restaurants that we frequent. Deschutes Fresh Squeezed IPA & Sam Adams Just the Haze are both more drinkable than Free Wave - with nice citrus hop flavor. They also finish much smoother than this. I realize Athletic is releasing lots of IPAs, but I’m not stumbling on them in Idaho grocery stores, and I’m way to lazy to order beer online. Hope Free
View on Reddit →Athletic Brewing Free Wave Hazy IPA It’s not bad. Not great, but not bad. Not up to the hype, anyway. Good forward grapefruit notes but a little bitter on the back end. I’m hoping it’s just my taste buds, though.
View on Reddit →Had my first Free Wave by Athletic... Have been drinking Run Wild for close to a year now, and have never been a hazy guy, so held off... Read good reviews here, thought, "Naaaah!" Got a good deal on a 6-pack last night and would say I was blown away. I think moasaic hop is the one that crossed over making it feel familiar. I rather like the hops used in All Day IPA (a 4.7% session) and this really landed in that territory of light and bright. Sorry I blew it off! I should have know better... y'all have never led me astray
